Xavi’s press conference ahead of the game against Osasuna.

Xavi’s press conference ahead of the game against Osasuna. He spoke about Mateu Alemany, Yamal, Kounde, João Cancelo, Ansu Fati, Negreira case, Abde, UCL group stage and João Félix.

Barcelona edged out Villarreal last weekend 4-3 to remain two point behind arch-rivals Real Madrid after three La Liga games. Young talented winger Lamine Yamal was named Man of the match after a stellar performance against Villarreal. In a game where he broke the record for the youngest player to ever provide an assist in a La Liga game (16 years and 45 days).

Here is what Xavi had to say;

Xavi on Alemany: Mateu’s departure has left me sad as well as the players who left. Mateu and Jordi have done a great job, now Deco too.

When asked about the competition on the right wing: The players have to understand there are five changes and they are all important. They just need to be ready.

On Kounde: kounde started the season really well and is performing at a very high level. There are only few defenders in the world that are better than him right now.

On João Cancelo: Cancelo is a very versatile player, the team can play in different ways with him. He can play on the right and in the left which is good. He wanted to come in January.

On Ansu Fati and Abde: The main goal for Fati is to return in his best form. We know he will come back and succeed in Barca. Abde insisted a lot in leaving. However, there is an option to bring him back and we will see what happens.

On the Negreira case: Never in my life have I felt I was being helped by the referees.

On the UCL group stage: we aim to top our UCL group but it will not be easy. We have to be competitive in the Champions league, it is a must.

On João Félix: Yes I wanted Felix, he is a great talent who made a huge effort to come to Barça. He can play in different part of the pitch which is good for the team.

That is all Xavi had to say, we hope we see a good gameplay from the team later tonight.
