Just days after scoring Barcelona’s first goal of the season, Pedri has picked a hamstring in training this morning. Pedri is undoubtably a vital piece in Xavi’s project and this news will come as a big blow in Xavi’s plans for the new campaign.
From the dressing room, reports have stated that Pedri’s injury is not as serious as last season. However, he will be out for exactly five weeks. This is the same injury in the same leg that he suffered in the Europa game against Manchester United in February.
Since 2021, pedri has missed 56 matches through injury. Under Xavi, he has missed 40%(37/55) of the matches the team has played.
Pedri is expected to be sidelined for 4-5 weeks. Pedri could possibly return around the matches against Mallorca on the 27th September or Sevilla on the 1st October based on first sensations.
The Spanish midfielder will miss the following games if he is sidelined for exactly one month; the away trip to Villarreal, away game against Osasuna, home game against Betis, the UCL opener, home game against Celta vigo.
We hope there won’t be any risk with his recovery.
