Xavi’s preference ahead of the game against Celta Vigo. He spoke about his renewal, the right wing spot, Joao Felix, his best moment as Barca’s coach, pedri’s recovery, set pieces, Araujo and Vitor roque.  

Barcelona played their first UEFA Champions League game earlier this week against Belgian side Royal Antwerp. The Catalan giant trashed Antwerp 5-0 to maintain their unbeaten start this season. They have now scored ten goals in their last two games (Real Betis 5-0, Antwerp 5-0). 

Xavi could win his 50th match for Barcelona tomorrow against Celta. Xavi as Barcelona’s head coach; 49 Wins, 10 Draws, 10 Losses.

Here is what Xavi had to say; 

Xavi on his renewal: The renewal has been going on  for days and will be announced soon. I am happy. 

Xavi on the right wing:I am delighted with the right right wingers we have, Lamine, Raphinha, Ferran. There is a very important physical effort that requires tremendous intensity, that is why there is a lot of changes.

Xavi on Joao Felix: Felix is doing an excellent job, he has always had talent. He is supportive and makes a difference. He is helping us a lot. I hope he scores  more goals and provides more assists.

It is too early to talk about signing Felix or Cancelo. First we have to see how the season goes and then decide on both. There are 9 months left. 

Xavi on Pedri’s recovery: Pedri is with the rehabilitation statffs. He is fine and working hard to return. We want him to be hundred percent fit. 

Xavi on his best moment as Barça’s coach: The super cup in January, it was a turning point. The players saw it and began to believe. It was key to turn things around. 

Xavi on set pieces: Sergio Alegre is responsible for the set pieces. Last year we were excellent in defense and this year we are improving. Felix and Gundogan play them very well and we have improved a lot compared to last year. 

Xavi on Ronald Araujo: Araujo is a very important figure in the team, he is a vital piece in our project. He is a leader and a spectacular corrector. He is happy and his spirit is key for the team. 

Xavi on Vitor Roque: The doctors are in contact. They have informed Dr. Pruna. Let’s see and make sure it’s nothing serious. Bojan will begin the tasks if following up on those on loan or with buybacks. 

Xavi on Christensen: He had some discomfort and we protected him. He is fine and he I s a very important footballer for me.
