Xavi’s press conference ahead of the game against Villarreal.

Xavi’s press conference ahead of the game against Villarreal. He spoke about Jenni Hermoso, Pedri’s injury, his desire to remain in the club, Abde, Lewandoski, his renewal, kounde and Ferran Torres.

Barcelona head into this game with a lot of confidence after securing their first win of the campaign against Villarreal last weekend. They have also kept two clean sheets this season. The Catalan side will face their ex coach Quique setien who is now in charge of the yellow  submarine.

Xavi will miss the game owing to the red card he received in the first game of the season against Getafe. Barca will also be without Pedri, who opened Barcelona’s goal account last weekend. He was also the lone goalscorer in the reverse fixture last season.

Here is what Xavi had to say;

Xavi: First of all I give my full support to Jenni Hermoso and all the Spanish players. What Rubiales did is totally unacceptable, I condemn such act.

Xavi on Pedri’s injury: Pedri injury is similar to the one he had last season against Manchester United. We will see when he will be available for selection. He had gained a lot of muscle mass during the summer break to avoid injuries but things like this happen in every team.

Xavi: Barca is the club I love, I’m very happy here.

Xavi on Lewandoski: Lewandoski is calm. He wants to help the team through goals but he is also contributing other things like assist. The goals will surely come.

Xavi on Abde: personally, I love Abde’s profile, both as a player and a person. I think he can be important for us this season. The players must understand that it’s no longer important to be a starter or a sub. The other day, we won against Cadiz thanks to the changes.

Xavi on his renewal: Everything is going well. There is no kind of problem. When there is news, we will let you know.

Xavi on kounde: I spoke with Kounde. He is ready to play anywhere the team needs him. He gives everything for the team and he is a leader.

Xavi on Ferran Torres: He is a role model for the way he works. He played 10 minutes in the last match and helped the team buy scoring a goal.

We hope to see a great gameplay from the team today against Villarreal.
