Xavi press conference ahead of the game against Teal Madrid. He spoke about the fans support, Joao Cancelo, Romeu, Joao Felix, La Masia, Pedri, Frenkie, Lewandoski and the El Clasico.
Barcelona will face Real Madrid in the league’s first El Clasico of the season. Barcelona remain the only Spanish side in the top division yet to lose a game (7W,3D) following a win against Shakhtar Donetsk, they remain unbeaten in all competitions this season (10W, 3D)
Here is what Xavi had to say;
Xavi on the fans support: I am sure the fans will be with us for the game. They always support us.
Xavi on Cancelo: Joao Cancelo losing to many balls? He helps us a lot with build up and tries to make a difference in the final third. I am not worried at all.
Xavi on Pedri’s injury: He is expected to come back this week, we will see what happens.
Xavi on Frenkie and Lewy: They are both 100% fit, there is no problem for them to play.
Xavi on the Clasico: The Clasico is always special, you are always very nervous and the desire to win is always bigger than normal.
Xavi continues: El Clasico is always the biggest game of the season. Being the player with the most El Clasico appearances? I am proud of it but now as a manager everything is different.
Xavi on Oriol Romeu: just like everybody, he needs to be very focused tomorrow. Real Madrid is very good in counter attack so he needs to pay attention.
Xavi on Joao Felix: I don’t think he is neither a number 9 nor an attacking midfielder. I see him more a second forward with freedom to create plays.
Xavi on La Masia: The passion and intensity that players from La Masia show gives us a big plus. it is always important to have players from the house.
Xavi on Felix and Bellingham: Both Joao Felix and Bellingham are both important for the two teams. Hopefully Felix will be more decisive in the game.
Xavi on Gil Manzano: He was elected by a computer and that’s all there is to it. I don’t want to talk anymore about referees.
Xavi on stopping Vinicius: It is not just about stopping Vinicius. Madrid have many other good players like Bellingham, Valverde, Rodrygo. They are a very strong team.
End of Xavi’s press conference.
